ASHTANGA YOGA

Ashtanga Yoga is a vigorous style of Hatha yoga in which a set sequence of poses, the Primary Series, are linked together by the breath in a continuous flow. Described as a moving meditation, this is an alignment orientated practice, which develops concentration and builds strength in equal proportion to flexibility.

Offered as Level I, Level I/II, Level II and all levels. The Ashtanga all levels class is more challenging than Level I and requires prior yoga experience. In addition we now offer Ashtanga Flow. This class is led rhythmically without slowing or stopping to teach, resulting in a breath centered vigourous practice. This class deepens inner awareness, builds endurance and helps you develop a home practice.

VINYASA YOGA

An outgrowth of Ashtanga, Vinyasa Yoga expands on the set sequence of the Primary Series. Poses are sequenced in infinite variety through sun salutations. This is a vigorous, flowing form guided by the breath, integrating precise alignment with strength, flexibility and balance cultivating deep awareness.

Offered as Level I, Level I/II, Level II, Level II/III and all levels. The Vinyasa all levels class is more challenging than Level I and requires prior yoga experience.

IYENGAR INSPIRED YOGA

Vinyasa, or the mindful sequencing of postures to maximize benefits is explored from an Iyengar perspective. Iyengar Yoga is noted for precise anatomical and organic alignment, self-observation, and integraton of subtle energies balancing the nervous system. Props are used to enable more complete access to postures. Class can range from deeply passive to quite active.

YIN YOGA

This class focuses on the slow, patient, opening of the fascial layer of the body. The fascia is the connective tissue (shrink wrap) that underlies the skin, wraps the muscles, holds the bones together and is the conduit for the meridians through which energy flows. Over time chronic tightness of this layer causes stiffness and inflexibility restricting mobility and energy flow. Fascia responds differently then muscle and requires this slow approach to facilitate opening. This is a deeply meditative practice. No prior yoga experience required.
