ASHTANGA YOGA
Ashtanga Yoga is a vigorous style of Hatha yoga in which a set sequence of poses, the Primary Series, are linked together by the breath in a continuous flow. Described as a moving meditation, this is an alignment orientated practice, which develops concentration and builds strength in equal proportion to flexibility.
Offered as Ashtanga Prep and Ashtanga. In addition
we now offer a Mysore-style practice.
Mysore-style Practice. This practice time enables students
to experience self-practice with the guidance and assitance of a teacher. Students
can start practice at any time within the designated time frame, adhering to
the Ashtanga-Vinyasa Primary Series, or an appropriate sequence of their own
choosing. Teachers will provide individual attention,
offering variations, modifications, alignment advice, and therapeutic alternatives
as well as providing gentle or deep hands-on assists. This process helps students
deepen awareness, and understand safety considerations as they develop
a personal practice.
VINYASA YOGA
Vinyasa Yoga, sometimes called Power or Flow Yoga, is a dynamic style of yoga using sun salutations to link poses into a continuous flow anchored by a powerful breathing technique called Ujayii breathing. Often described as a moving meditation, it cultivates awareness, mindfulness and presence resulting in reduced stress. It is also a challenging alignment oriented practice that develops strength, flexibility, alignment and overall balance in equal proportions.
Offered as Drop-in Beginner Vinyasa, Level I, Level I/II, Level II, Level II/III, and All Levels.
YIN YOGA
This class focuses on the slow, patient, opening of the fascial layer of the body. The fascia is the connective tissue (shrink wrap) that underlies the skin, wraps the muscles, holds the bones together and is the conduit for the meridians through which energy flows. Over time chronic tightness of this layer causes stiffness and inflexibility restricting mobility and energy flow. Fascia responds differently then muscle and requires this slow approach to facilitate opening. This is a deeply meditative practice. No prior yoga experience required.
PRE/POSTNATAL YOGA
Learn yoga techniques to help you prepare for, and meet, the challenges of birth and motherhood. This class is open and on-going and requires no pre-registration. Students may start at anytime. No prior yoga experience required.
