teacher trainer - ayurveda, teacher - hatha yoga

My initial experience with yoga in 1990’s at the Himalayan Institute of Buffalo with my teachers Rolf and MG Sovik led me to making a radical shift in lifestyle and location to the Institute’s educational facility in Honesdale, P.A. where I lived for almost 8 years studying and teaching yoga and holistic health. I had the honor to learn under exemplary teachers such as Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Sandra Anderson, Shari Friedrichsen, and Dr. Carrie Demers as well as many visiting teachers such as Gary Krafstow.

I learned the art and science of Ayurvedically informed vegetarian cooking as well as how yoga could be a therapeutic healing art. As administrative coordinator for the teacher training program. I also was able to travel and study with teachers such as Dr. Vasant Lad, Sandra Summerfield Kozak, Dr. Frawley, and Dr. Svaboda.

In 2004 I returned to Buffalo and received a B.A. in Exercise Science from the University at Buffalo. Shortly afterwards I began my studies with Sue Mann Dolce and Matt Sanford in learning how to use yoga in a more accessible way and began working with the Universal Design Yoga program at UB in 2009. This training allows me to work with various able bodied individuals in wheelchairs, with vision impairment, those with joint replacements, and people living with autism, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, osteoporosis, hypertension, and pelvic floor prolapse.

Additional studies in Ayurveda have been with Kathryn Templeton, in trauma informed yoga with David Emerson and the Blu Matter Project, and in Tantra Yoga with the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale.

I am currently working as Administrative Coordinator and Senior Teacher for the 200 hour and 500 hour Teacher Training Program, as well as the Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist Training Program at the Himalayan Institute of Buffalo.

I work privately with clients to find the most effective method of yoga practice and lifestyle methods to fit their unique needs and abilities. My certifications are listed as 200/500 hour Certified Yoga Instructor, Yoga Therapist, Advanced Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist.
